Bukit Selar – A Sustainable Revolution in Kelantan’s Forests for Carbon Removal

Kelantan’s lush forests have long been a source of pride for our community. However, in recent years, the bamboo-infested forests surrounding our area have posed a unique challenge. With a commitment to preserving our natural heritage, we have embarked on a mission to harvest mature bamboo from these forests.

Solutions for a Carbon Negative Future

Addressing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The urgency of addressing climate change cannot be overstated. One crucial aspect of our project is the prevention of greenhouse gas emissions. Without our intervention, the bamboo in these forests would naturally fall, decompose, and release harmful gases into the atmosphere. Our efforts are a significant step towards mitigating this environmental impact.

A Pioneering Endeavor

Our project marks a significant milestone for Kelantan, and Malaysia. It is the first industrial-scale, commercial biochar plant in the country, setting a precedent for sustainable and carbon-negative technologies. We are excited to be at the forefront of this green revolution.

Generating Carbon Removal Credits

In addition to its local impact, our project is trailblazing on the international stage. It is the first of its kind in Malaysia to generate carbon removal credits, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.

Biochar and Bamboo Vinegar Production

The harvested bamboo serves as the cornerstone of our project. We utilize this valuable resource as feedstock for a gasifier, enabling the production of biochar and bamboo vinegar. This innovative process transforms potential emissions into valuable carbon-negative products.

Improving Soil Health and Reducing Chemical Dependency

The benefits of our biochar and bamboo vinegar products are twofold. Locally, they are enhancing soil health, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This not only promotes healthier agriculture but also ensures the long-term sustainability of our lands.
